Just like the sun, Reiki is vital energy used to promote balance and well-being. Reiki energy promotes our body’s natural ability to heal through life force energy (also referred to as qi, ki, prana).

The “ki” in in reiki meaning life force energy, and it is something every single one of us has access to.

Reiki is based on the idea that the body isn't just physical — it is also energetic.

You are aware of what stress feels like — tension in your shoulders, grief like a weight in your chest, anxiety like a knot in your stomach. We experience emotions physically, and that’s not just a metaphor — your nervous system, your fascia, your cells all hold onto experience.

Reiki works by clearing your body energetically with life force energy that flows through and around your body (you may have heard of this called ki, qi, or prana). When it's flowing well, you feel vital and balanced. When it's blocked or depleted — from stress, trauma, illness, confusion, or burnout — things feel off.

When we are around someone, their mood is contagious whether it is uplifting or the opposite. Similarly, we all have ki within us, and whether we are conscious of it or not, this flow of life energy is occurring constantly.

The practice of reiki allows us to access and move this life force energy. When we are in a state of harmony and synchronized function across emotional, cognitive centers, and physiological rhythms, we achieve an optimal state of ki.

Reiki is used to treat emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. It can be used on its own, or as a complementarily treatment for relaxation, healing, and restoring energy.

In a session, we start by discussing what’s been going on with you, including areas in which you may feel stuck. I’ll guide you into a meditative state, and then hover and/or lightly place my hands on you gently in the areas I sense tension channeling and facilitating the flow of reiki energy.

During a session, we’ll move into the Alpha (8-12 Hz), Theta (4-8 Hz), and at times Delta (.5-4Hz) brain wave states, which support a relaxed, meditative, and deeply restorative state. These states reduce stress, enhance inner focus, and optimize healing, which are different from active Beta waves (12-30 Hz) associated with daily analytical thinking.
