Artist Statement and Inspiration:
Hummingbirds are a reminder to find joy, lightness, and playfulness in life. Their small size and rapid wing movements symbolize the ability to be resilient and adapt to any situation, and they are seen as carrying messages of love and connecting people, often inspiring one to open their heart.
To find true love, we have to first touch on the tender parts inside ourselves, but to do that sometimes we need a friend to hold the space for us as we learn how to hold it ourselves. In this meeting, we know the compass to our heart that allows others of that same heart frequency to find us as well.
This piece was inspired by a very dear friend of mine who I felt an immediate heart connection with in my adult life, and without knowing why or how, we had called to one another and came together in a very (if not the most) challenging time in our lives.
As we sat watching the sunset feeling a loss for what the next steps were in our respective lives, hummingbirds appeared as if to encourage our friendship, and our sincerity and honesty.
When we take the chance to express who we are, we find those who help us along the way, and together harmonize at an even higher joyful frequency. I painted this piece as a gratitude for this lesson filled with loving energy for and from my dear friend. May this piece bring you closer to your heart, and welcome in the hummingbird relationships that make your life sweeter.
